Robbie Duschinsky is Professor of Social Science and Health and Head of the Applied Social Science Group within the Primary Care Unit. He is also Director of Studies in Sociology at Sidney Sussex College. Robbie is co-PI of the “Living Assessments” Collaborator Award, funded by Wellcome, exploring the integration of health and social care in assessments of children. He is also co-PI of the “COACHES” study, funded by the NIHR and What Works for Early Intervention and Children’s Social Care, examining mental health referrals and treatment for young people with social care involvement.
Robbie’s research interests concern child and family mental health, the integration of health and social care for children and families, and the use of qualitative methods within primary care research. He also has interests in the sociology of gender and in sociological theory.

Robbie is the convener for the MVST 1A paper Social & Ethical Context of Health and Illness for first-year medical studies. The paper aims to engage students’ curiosity regarding the role of social factors within the course of disease and treatment, and to introduce ethical and legal questions that arise for the medical profession.
Professor Duschinsky is accepting PhD students on projects relating to the mental health of children and families, and the integration of children's health and social care services.
Robbie has supervised to completion fourteen doctoral projects and sixteen MA/MPhil dissertations. He would welcome enquiries from prospective Doctoral and MPhil students for projects relating to his research interests.
