Department of Public Health and Primary Care (PHPC)

In 2024, we brought together a collaboration between the Primary Care Unit, University of Cambridge (UCAM) and the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT).  The same year, we launched the ELFT-UCAM Implementation Research Hub in Bedfordshire, led by Dr Shobhana Nagraj (Assistant Professor in Primary & Community Care). On 27th of September 2024, we came together to co-create a vision and theory of change for the Hub and its activities.

The overall vision for our Research Hub incorporates population health and individual agency and emphasises empowerment, community collaboration, and achieving impactful health and wellness outcomes.

Our vision is:

To create a thriving research community, where our research empowers individuals to take charge of their health and fosters a culture of collaboration, to improve population health & wellbeing.

We aim to do this by:

  1. Increasing research capacity in Luton & Bedfordshire.
  2. Embedding a collaborative, supportive research culture into our daily work.
  3. Improving representation, inclusion and diversity in our research by involving communities in research that positively impacts their lives.
