Biography
Kristian is Professor of Medical Sociology at the Nottingham Centre for the Advancement of Research into Supportive, Palliative and End of Life Care (NCARE) at the University of Nottingham. She studied social anthropology at the universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge and has carried out qualitative research in a wide range of health service settings, often involving sensitive topics and vulnerable populations. Kristian's current research interests centre on the study of death in society, including patient and public understanding, experience and attitudes towards end- of-life care and death and dying. She has a longstanding interest in medicines management for patients being cared for at home and has been involved in a programme of work researching the use of Anticipatory Medicines with Ben Bowers and Stephen Barclay at Pelicam.
