Ms Yubing Xu

Yubing Xu is a PhD student at the Primary Care Unit, University of Cambridge. Her research explores the social determinants of suicidal distress and self-harm among adolescents, with a particular focus on the role of poverty and social service involvement. Before starting her PhD, Yubing worked on the mental health of left-behind children in rural China, which sparked her interest in how structural disadvantage affects young people’s mental wellbeing. Her current project combines quantitative analysis of electronic health records with evidence synthesis to investigate how social and economic contexts influence mental health outcomes.
