Biography

Viviana is a PhD candidate in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on understanding the barriers to referring patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to pulmonary rehabilitation in primary care, with a particular focus on the role of ethnicity. To this end, she carries out qualitative studies that include individual and group interviews with general practitioners, primary care nurses, patients and carers, exploring diverse perspectives on the subject. Viviana has experience in the epidemiology of chronic diseases and physiotherapy, having worked in clinical and academic settings as both a teacher and a researcher. Her main interests include access to healthcare, implementation science and strategies to optimise outcomes in the management of chronic diseases. She also researches the influence of the environment on human health, an area in which she also has experience. His work seeks to generate evidence to inform policy and improve clinical guidelines, with the aim of increasing patients' access to pulmonary rehabilitation and, ultimately, contributing to better respiratory health outcomes.
