Biography

Miranda graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. She joined the Primary Care Unit in 2014 as a Research Assistant in the Behavioural Science Group. During this time, Miranda worked on research projects looking at the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of digital interventions on various health behaviours: physical activity (VBI Trial), smoking cessation (iQuit trial) and medication adherence (PAM). Miranda moved to the Cardiovascular Group in January 2022 to help coordinate the SAFER trial, an RCT to determine if screening for atrial fibrillation in primary care is effective in reducing stroke compared to current practice. Other projects undertaken at the Primary Care Unit: systematic reviews of smartphone-based health behaviour assessment tools and an NIHR SPCR funded audit of Patient and Public Involvement across the Unit. Miranda joined the Long-Term Conditions Research Group in April 2025 to work on ADAPT, an RCT to investigate the effectiveness of online group exercise classes (Pilates or Tai Chi) in reducing fatigue and mental health symptoms in patients with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases.
