María works as the programme coordinator for PrimaryBreathe, a 5-year NIHR-funded programme developing and testing an intervention to help people suffering from chronic breathlessness.
María joined the PCU after taking a break from research to raise her young family. During that time, she was a guest lecturer and supervisor for 1st year medical students at the University of Cambridge, co-founded Escuelita (a Spanish Saturday school https://www.escuelita.org.uk/en/), and was a governor at an Outstanding primary school. Previously, María started her PhD at MRC Epidemiology Unit (Cambridge), having completed her MPhil in Public Health (Cambridge) and BA in Biological Anthropology at Harvard.
