Biography
Lily's work is focussed on qualitative methods and process evaluation of risk-based innovations. She is currently working on the Bowel Star UK study funded by Cancer Research UK, a cohort study trialling risk-stratified screening intervals for bowel cancer in England and Scotland. Lily's involvement includes contributing to the development of participant information leaflets, leading qualitative interviews exploring the acceptability of receiving a low personal risk estimate and the potential impact this has on uptake, as well as conducting a process evaluation of the cohort study. She is also involved in the PREDICT-Kidney study, evaluating a new online tool designed to assist clinicians in communicating risk of recurrence and follow-up schedules for patients following kidney cancer surgery. Her involvement includes interviews with patients and clinicians exploring views and experiences of the PREDICT-Kidney tool and analysing the time required and fidelity of delivery. Lily is also involved in the FIT@80 mixed-methods evaluation of the impact and implementation of a lower FIT threshold of 80ug/g, an NHS England pilot study taking place across nine early adopter sites. This work is being undertaken through the Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research (CCHSR), a collaboration between RAND Europe and the University of Cambridge.
Research
Lily's primary area of interest is risk stratification of cancer screening, in particular bowel cancer. She is also interested in the use of personal cancer risk beyond screening, for example in stratifying follow-up protocols or adjuvant treatment options, and in other cancer types.

Teaching and Supervisions
Lily is co-lead of the Medical Student systematic review group, organising and delivering training on systematic reviews to medical students in years 4-6. Students are then linked with researchers across the Biomedical Campus enabling them to apply their learnings to a systematic review in practice. She is also a seminar leader for the Social and Ethical Context of Health and Illness module, delivered as part of the first year Medicine curriculum.
