Department of Public Health and Primary Care (PHPC)

I studied medicine at Emmanuel College Cambridge before undertaking postgraduate integrated academic training in London, Sussex, and the East of England. My clinical-academic role involves clinical work as a consultant in palliative medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, contribution to medical student teaching at the University of Cambridge Clinical School, and research as co-lead of the PELiCam palliative and end of life care research group. My research focuses on improving care for people living with multiple illnesses or clinical syndromes such as frailty. My PhD thesis explored how the care preferences of frail older people are influenced following acute illness episodes. I am particularly interested in the uncertainties inherent to complex illness trajectories, the effect these have on care experience and outcomes, and how we can optimise care to communicate and address uncertainty.
