Biography
With a background in scientific laboratory-based research, Kate gained her PhD in the Medical Faculty at the University of Bristol, where she worked for eight years. In 2001 she joined the Department of Public Health & Primary Care here at the University of Cambridge as a trial co-ordinator for the ProActive study, the Unit’s first randomised controlled trial. She then worked on the ADDITION studies, a series of large studies investigating screening for and intensive treatment of diabetes in primary care. Kate has since worked on many Unit studies including: the long-term follow-up of both the ProActive and ADDITION cohorts; Get Moving Study; SeRaHS study (Self-rated Health in Stroke); PosMT after Stroke pilot; FMR study; and the PROPS Trial. Kate is currently the programme manager for the SAFER programme, and working on the STRATIFY-HF Study. As a team scientist Kate is involved with all stages of research delivery, from the grant application stage through delivery to dissemination. Kate also provides support and guidance on research management, and ethical and regulatory issues.
