Biography

Rosanna Fennessy is a research psychologist working on studies related to anticipatory prescribing at the end of life, communicating uncertainty in multimorbidity, and mapping patient journeys in healthcare. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and prior to joining PELiCam, completed her mixed methods Psychology and Education PhD with the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. Her thesis explored the experience of education, employment, social participation and wellbeing amongst young adults with long term physical health conditions. Her study also considered the ways young people with long term conditions perceive support from external networks such as education staff, employers and healthcare professionals. She has also worked as a student counsellor and spent many years teaching psychology and sociology in secondary schools. Rosanna has an MPhil in Research Methods from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Occupational Health Psychology from the University of Nottingham. Her first degree was a BA (Hons) in Applied Social Science (joint honours psychology and sociology) from Coventry University.

Research

Rosanna’s research interests are focused on patient perceptions and experience of illness, patient and health professional experience of communicating about future uncertainty, mapping patient journeys related to anticipatory prescribing, and understanding health professional experience of navigating the prescribing and use of anticipatory medications.

Other Professional Activities

Rosanna is a patient advocate for the safe and effective use of patient data for research on a number of health data projects. she also sits on the steering and oversight committee of the NIHR BioResource.
