Biography
Before embarking on a medical degree at Heidelberg University, Esther graduated from Cambridge with a MEng and BA in Chemical Engineering. She has gained experience as a research assistant in epidemiology with Dr. Pascal Geldestzer’s team, associated with Stanford Medicine and the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health, alongside working as a paralegal and researcher in international policy, including medical policy, and in management consulting. Esther grew up internationally and speaks 7 languages – her travels to over 50 countries have instilled in her a passion for global health, which she has injected into developing her PhD topic researching the infection and immune response aetiology of myocardial infarction and cardiovascular disease, jointly supervised by Prof. Michael Inouye, Prof. John Danesh and Prof. Emanuele Di Angelantonio. Her academic work is funded by a Trinity Cambridge Research Scholarship, a generous grant established by the Isaac Newton Trust. She considers travel, reading and writing to be the greatest possible privilege, and has written two fiction books.
