Biography
Theresa is a Research Associate in the Cambridge Sustainable Computing Lab. She focuses on how AI's environmental impacts can unfairly affect human health, and approaches to reducing these risks. Before moving to Cambridge, she completed her PhD and first postdoc at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. At the intersection of AI ethics and Science and Technology studies, she investigated the ethical and social implications of AI-assisted diagnostics in medical imaging disciplines, particularly dermatology and radiology. Her thesis provides a framework for grounding ethical analysis in the social processes shaping technical artefacts. After finishing her PhD, Theresa conducting post doc work on the ethics of Swarm Learning and a multi-sited ethnography on AI's environmental impacts. Alongside her research in Munich, Theresa managed the Munich Embedded Ethics and Social Science Hub (MESH). She is an alumna of the Bavarian Elite Academy and the German National Academic Foundation. Initially, she studied Media Studies in Regensburg, Brussels, and Berlin.
