Helena is a consultant in healthcare public health at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and a Senior Clinical Tutor, leading the teaching of the Improving Health modules on the Cambridge Graduate Course.
Helena worked in national, regional and local organisations across all the domains of public health before joining WSFT in 2016. Her role is unique in the east of England, providing public health leadership in a hospital setting.
Helena spends half her time working on the digital health programme, exploring how big data can be used to improve the way services are designed to meet the needs of the population, and how putting information into the hands of patients can revolutionise the way healthcare is delivered. A current research project is studying whether sending automated text messages to promote smoke-free and drink-free apps can be an effective way of giving health advice at scale.
Helena is the part of the Public Health Education Group. As well as being the lead for Public Health Teaching for the Cambridge Graduate Course Helena also contributes to the teaching of the standard course.
