Background
Farhad is an Information Scientist and a Systematic Reviewer. He has previously worked at the University of Nottingham, King’s College London, and the University College London. He studied medicine with a focus on evidence synthesis as his PhD at Nottingham University. As the team leader with 18 years of experience in the field of evidence synthesis, he has led teams from five continents and delivered a diverse range of evidence synthesis projects, including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, network meta-analyses, evidence and gap maps, clinical practice guidelines, and health technology assessments to a diverse range of clients such as WHO, UN, UNICEF, UK NIHR, Cochrane, AWMF, and NICE.
Research Interests
He is passionate about evidence synthesis, typology of reviews, systematic reviews, and systematic searching. As a methodologist, Farhad has contributed to developing globally used evidence synthesis methods in the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and PRISMA reporting guidelines. He has designed the first and most sensitive search strategy for COVID-19 literature and the first living search strategy, and coined the concepts such as ‘Search-Resistant Concepts’, ‘Search Pyramid’, and ‘Living Search Strategy’. In 2021, he shifted from academic publishing to blogging.
