Background
Shengjia (Jill) majored in clinical medicine for her undergraduate study in China and public health for her Masters in Melbourne. She worked clinically for two years in an ophthalmology department. She also used to own a well-known vegetarian cafe in Melbourne. She started being interested in children’s mental health after became a mother. She currently mainly focuses on mental health outcomes among ethnic minority children and immigrant children.
Research Interests
Her PhD project aims to explore mental health profiles among ethnic minority children and their experience in accessing primary and secondary mental health care. She will conduct a systematic review and utilize a sequential explanatory mixed methods design. Anonymised administrative records will be used to explore associations between ethnicity and diagnosis of mental illnesses and symptom severity. She then will conduct a qualitative study to learn more about children’s experience in accessing mental health support from primary and secondary care.
