Susana joined the Clinical Nursing Research Group part of Professor Christi Deaton’s research team in the Primary Care Unit in 2018 and is working on the OPTIMISE project as Senior Research Nurse. Prior to this Susana has worked in a variety of research settings particularly in Medical Genetics (Rare Nephropathies) and Acute Medicine / Intensive Care setting. She continues to hold her NHS post in the Division of Nephrology as a Specialist Nurse leading the TOLVAPTAN programme in the Renal Genetics Tubular Disorders Clinic (RGTD), part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust under the lead of Professor Fiona Karet.
Susana joined the unit with a MRes (distinction) in Clinical and Experimental Medicine from University College London (UCL). As part of Professor Fiona Karet’s team at the University of Cambridge, Susana has been involved in an NIHR RD-TRC-funded programme entitled “UMOD Nephropathy” for the last 2 years.

Susana has participated in several formal and informal teaching through her career. She has helped implementing the Delirium NICE guidelines across London as part of her previous role
