Background
Originally, Christiane completed an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and then went on to do a DPhil and post-doctoral junior research fellowship at Oxford University. At the time, she focused on structural biology and drug design, as well as biophysical methods. Working as a scientist, she was keen to learn more about the biological and medical aspects of cancer research, as well as to work with patients.
She was therefore excited to move on to the Graduate Medical Course in Cambridge, which she completed in 2015 at Hughes Hall. Since then, she has completed the Academic Foundation Programme in the East of England Deanery, working in Bury St. Edmund’s, Huntingdon and Cambridge.
Research Interests
Christiane has joined the Primary Care Institute’s prevention group, working with Dr Juliet Usher-Smith on factors promoting health behaviour change, in particular education about lifestyle changes to reduce cancer risk. This opens up a new chapter in Christiane’s research portfolio, learning about psychosocial factors affecting health behaviour, as well as intensifying experience in statistical methodologies.
Teaching
Christiane looks forward to contributing to teaching medical students within the department.
