Background
Rian is working on an MPhil by research in Medical Sciences under the supervision of Professor Nicholas Mascie-Taylor, Dr. Adam Butterworth, and Dr. Maitreyi Mazumdar. She is currently funded by the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. She graduated summa cum laude in 2017 with a BSc in Environmental Science from Antioch College (Ohio, USA). Prior to starting her MPhil, she spent nine months working for the U.S. government on environmental diplomacy in Bolivia, Washington D.C., and Sri Lanka. She had also spent one year as a full-time research assistant in water and soil quality in Utah, Ohio, and Ghana, excluding part-time research projects such as her time as the student lead of an U.S. EPA grant to develop a novel water filter.
Current Research
Rian is conducting systematic reviews related to arsenic exposure and analyzing a Harvard University dataset exploring the potential interaction of maternal arsenic exposure and folate intake in spina bifida risk.
