Background

After completing my BSc in Biochemistry (University of Sheffield) and MSc in Clinical biochemistry with Molecular Biology (University of Surrey) I spent 7 years at the Medical Research Council Human Nutrition Research unit. I started as a laboratory assistant and was promoted to Analyst in the Stable Isotope group (now PMMR). My main area of work was in the measurement of energy expenditure, body composition and breast-milk intake using isotopically labelled water. Our methods were applied to a number of different populations around the world and the group is still one of the few to offer this expertise. Having previously been involved in the management of the National Diet and Nutrition Survey rolling programme and the National Infant Diet and Health study, my main interests lie in the management of large national and international projects.

I joined the CEU in May 2014 as a Project and Laboratory manager.
