In late January Professor Ruth Etzioni (Affiliate Professor of Biostatistics and Health Services, University of Washington, US and Member of Biostatistics Programme, Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Centre, USA) visited the UK. On the 27th she gave a very well-received keynote address at the Early Detection Programme 5th Annual Symposium in Cambridge, titled From data to evidence: using modelling to make the most out of early detection research studies.
The following day she joined us at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care for a series of meetings with Dr Fiona Walter to discuss future collaborations and to meet with the Cancer Group to hear about our ongoing work and share her experiences. She subsequently visited another CanTest institution – University College London – to meet with Professor Yoryos Lyratzopoulos and his group.
