|Ovatools – Tests and tools for the detection of ovarian cancer in primary care: a CPRD study
Current UK guidance recommends that women presenting to primary care with symptoms of possible ovarian cancer be tested for the serum biomarker Cancer Antigen 125 (CA125). Yet, CA125 has never been evaluated in a primary care population. In this study, we will use routinely collected primary care data and cancer registry data from over 50,000 women to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of CA125 in primary care. In addition, we will develop a prediction tool incorporating CA125 levels, symptoms and demographics to identify those women at greatest risk of having ovarian cancer.
