In the NHS, more smokers are treated in primary care than in other settings (227,624 in England in 2013-14) and only 8% of these will be abstinent at 12 months. Given the large number of smokers who are treated in primary care, even a small improvement in quit rate would produce a large increase in the number of successful long-term quitters. Our aim is to develop and evaluate tailored digital interventions to support people to stop smoking.
