Principal research question: | Does screening for diabetes increase anxiety? Does a negative result lead to false reassurance? |
Methodology description: | Prospective longitudinal study based in primary care. Questionnaires are sent on a number of occasions to people attending for screening for type 2 diabetes, non-attenders for screening, and patients in control practices who are not invited for screening |
Sample group description: | People at increased risk of having undiagnosed type 2 diabetes, identified in primary care |
Outcome measure description: | General anxiety and depression, worry about diabetes |
