Title: | Patients’ experiences of screening for type 2 diabetes |
Principal research question: | What are patients’ expectations and reactions to their screening test results? How do patients make sense of their results and what are the implications for their lifestyle? |
Methodology description: | Prospective qualitative interview study based in primary care. Participants were recruited at the point of their referral for an Oral Glucose Tolerance test (OGTT) as part of the ADDITION screening programme. Participants were interviewed before their OGTT and again after receiving their final results. |
Sample group description: | People at increased risk of having undiagnosed type 2 diabetes, identified in primary care through the ADDITION study. |
