Title: | Reliability and Validity in the GP Patient Survey |
Principal research question: | A three-year programme of work is being completed on this large and comprehensive survey of primary care patients in England. Over two million responses to the questionnaire are being analysed to determine the reliability of questions, responses of different population groups and groups with specific morbidities, what impact case mix adjustment would have, and priorities for care of different population groups. |
Methodology description: | We are also carrying out an experimental study using ‘mystery shoppers’ to validate questions on how easy patients find it to make appointments with GPs, and conducting interviews and focus groups to understand how GPs and managers respond to information on the survey that is now publicly available. In addition to providing information about the validity and reliability of the GP Patient Survey, the research is being designed to provide generalisable information to inform the design and conduct of other patient experience surveys in a range of healthcare settings. |
