Eligibility

Unfortunately we are unable to enrol everyone who wants to take part in the study.  In order to answer specific scientific questions, and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our study participants, we have to use a set of criteria against which people will be assessed for their eligibility. These criteria are specified below. If you are interested in taking part we would firstly ask you to complete some brief questions about physical activity. Based on these answers you would then be contacted by phone or email to make sure there aren’t any other reasons that you might be unable to take part.

Inclusion criteria

• Staff working on the Addenbrooke’s site (including non-NHS staff)
• Male or female, aged 18 – 65 at the start of the study
• Has personal use of a computer and the internet at home

Exclusion criteria

• Very active lifestyle (assessed by screening questionnaire)
• Participation in another human or clinical randomised trial
• Women who are pregnant
• Instructed by their GP not to engage in regular physical activity
• Unable to walk briskly on the flat for 15 minutes without help
• Taking certain doses / types of beta blockers
• Unable to operate a computer unaided or use an English language Website
• Planning to leave employment at Addenbrooke’s hospital in the 4 months following recruitment
• Body mass index (BMI) of less than 18
• Blood pressure of more than 160/100 mmHg
