This prestigious appointment for Dr Fiona Walter reflects the University’s recognition of the importance and value of Fiona’s work and her leading role in establishing Cambridge as a key player in primary care cancer research.
Fiona commented: “I’m delighted with this promotion which provides more opportunities to work with Cambridge, national and international leaders in cancer research to translate research findings into clinical practice. Our primary care cancer research will focus on promoting earlier diagnosis of cancer including new screening approaches, increasing access to optimal treatment, and improving care for people after cancer treatment.”
Professor Jonathan Mant added: “This is a thoroughly deserved promotion that reflects the high regard with which Fiona’s work is regarded. Primary care plays a critical role in pathways of cancer diagnosis and care, and I anticipate that Fiona will be at the centre of research efforts to better define that role in the coming years”.
