Erica Borgstrom has been awarded the Mildred Blaxter Post-Doctoral Fellowship by the Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness to continue her research on care practicesat the end of life.
The fellowship award provides support for individuals who have recently completed a PhD in the field of sociology of health and illness to enable them to disseminate findings of their thesis and/or to develop a new programme of work related to their thesis.
The award was granted to Erica based on her previous work and PhD on end of life care policy, practice and experiences, which was done here at the University of Cambridge. Her supervisors were Stephen Barclay and Simon Cohn.
Erica said: “I’ll be starting the fellowship in June 2015 at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I applied for the fellowship whilst funded by Research Capability Funding; I am very grateful for the support the Primary Care Unit has given me in pursuing my academic ambitions. I am looking forward to the future papers/projects whilst also keeping the connections I’ve developed here”.
