From Ian Wellwood
I recently travelled to Glasgow, Scotland along with fellow physiotherapist, Peter Hartley (Cambridge University Hospital Foundation Trust (CUHFT)) to present a piece of research at the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) conference. The conference, the first run by ESO, included patients, clinicians, scientists, researchers and other health care professionals who had gathered in Glasgow to share their interest in stroke prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
Our research, based on a collaboration with Prof. Val Pomeroy at the University of East Anglia (UEA), examined the different methods of selecting “dose” of therapy in rehabilitation trials. The work attracted interest from the multidisciplinary international audience and provided an opportunity for us to meet other nurses and AHPs who are working in clinical stroke research.
More information about European Stroke Organisation available at http://www.eso-stroke.org/eso-stroke/home.html. Next year’s conference will be in Barcelona, Spain, 10 – 12 May 2016 with abstract submission probably in January 2016.
