Natasha joined the unit in February 2011 as a Research Assistant with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire. Previous research projects include a large NIHR programme grant looking at ways of improving end-of-life care for people with dementia living in care homes, and conducting a systematic review on the effectiveness of inter-professional working for community dwelling older people. As part of Professor Mary Dixon-Woods’ team at the University of Cambridge, Natasha has been involved in an NIHR-funded programme entitled ‘Improving patient experience in primary care,’ for the last 5 years, underpinned by the General Practice Patient Survey (GPPS). In 2015 she achieved a Distinction in Health Psychology at Master’s level awarded by the University of Derby. She was previously seconded to RAND Europe as a Consultant and worked on a variety of health projects. She is currently conducting a systematic review of publishing indicators for inappropriate prescribing as part of a collaborative project with University of Bristol, University of Cambridge and University of Nottingham. In November she will begin working on the OPTIMIZE trial, in collaboration with the University of Oxford. She has publications both in her maiden name of ‘Baron’, and her married name of ‘Elmore’.
Natasha’s current research interests relate to patient experience, doctor-patient communication, improving patient care and inappropriate prescribing and de-prescribing.
