Gary started working for the Health Services Research Group in October 2010 as a research associate statistician. Immediately prior to starting at the IPH, he completed an MSc in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to retraining as a statistician, he worked for 10 years as a physicist at the British Antarctic Survey and UCL where he also completed a PhD in space physics.
Gary’s work within the Health Services Research Group sees him working with many members of the group on a wide range of issues. The main focus of his work is analysing data from the General Practice Patient Survey, but he also works on other topics including the early diagnosis of cancer. Statistical methods he is employing include multivariate and mixed effect modelling.
