Setor Kunutsor completed a Bsc. (Biological Sciences) and MBChB from the University of Ghana. He studied for the MSt. in Public Health in this department (2005 Cohort). He then joined the Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development, Leeds University where he worked as a Research Fellow till 2011. He is currently studying for his PhD, supervised by Dr. Emanuele Angelantonio.
Setor has a broad range of interests which include medication adherence in chronic diseases, racial and gender disparities in cardiovascular disease risk, cardiovascular risk in HIV positive populations, and clinical trials. His special interest is cardiovascular disease prevention in sub-Saharan Africa. His objective is to set up longitudinal cohorts for non-communicable diseases in these settings. As part of his PhD, he is assessing the role of various liver markers in cardiovascular disease risk.
