After completing my PhD at University of Reading (Institute Food Research) I spent the 8 years at the Medical Research Council Human Nutrition Research as a Research Scientist with primary responsibility for managing randomised, controlled, intervention studies investigating the effect of dietary factors on obesity-related disease. In this role I developed expertise in the design and delivery of highly controlled multi-centre studies, together with the project management, ethics and research governance skills essential for this work. Since joining CEU I have led the scientific coordination of studies in blood donors including the 50,000-person randomised controlled trial – INTERVAL http://www.intervalstudy.org.uk
