There are about half a dozen major research groups in the Department, encompassing areas including cardiovascular diseases, common cancers, nutrition, neuroepidemiology, metabolic diseases, diseases of ageing and behavioural change. The Head of Department of Public Health and Primary Care, since 2001, is Professor John Danesh.
