Dirk joined the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit in July 2015. Dirk’s research interests lie in the functional translation of genetic variants associated with cardiovascular disease into biological and clinical insights. Dirk is also a co-investigator at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, BHF Cambridge Centre for Cardiovascular Research Excellence and NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre. Read more about Dirk here.
David joined the Team in February 2016 to lead the functional annotation of novel genetic variants associated with cardiovascular risk factors. He is also involved in establishing gene-phenotype associations using recall-by-genotype studies. David trained in molecular psychiatry and is experienced in both experimental and computational approaches. Learn more about David here.
Lisa joined the Team in April 2016 to work on the functional investigation of genetic determinants of haematological traits as part of the NIHR Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Donor Health and Genomics. Her academic background is in synthetic biology and genetics. Lisa is a visiting scientist at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Learn more about Lisa here.
Advanced Research Assistant
Maria joined the Team in July 2017 to establish cellular models of atherosclerosis using human induced pluripotent stem cell technology. Maria is based at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. She trained in stem cell biology and is part of the Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Initiative.
Jessica joined the Team in August 2017 to increase capacity and efficiency for setting up recall-by-genotype mechanistic studies in healthy volunteers via the NIHR BioResource. Previously, Jessica worked at the Cambridge University’s MRC Epidemiology Unit, Division of Experimental Medicine and Immunotherapeutics, and Clinical Trials Unit.
